"Photos are our autobiography, a way of telling who we are" Jan Phillips

It is an honour to be part of a baby's story; to capture their presence even before they have arrived into their parents arms.  Maternity and newborn photography is an opportunity to hold onto the fleeting moments of pregnancy and your baby's first days.  It is an honour to help record the first chapter of their autobiography with my photographs.

Mamas-to-be have the opportunity to shine during our time together.   There is something especially captivating about a pregnant woman's shape and the glow, anticipation, and wonderment that come with pregnancy.  I love taking the time to inspire confidence in my expectant mamas and taking their breath away when they see how beautiful they really are. Maternity sessions typically take place between 30 and 35 weeks.

I'm always excited to meet new babies during their first two weeks of life.  I remember how quickly those first few weeks with your little one pass by in a blur of exhaustion, elation, joy, tears, and wonderment.  Your family is forever changed when you welcome a new baby into the world and one of my greatest joys is capturing those first precious moments.  When babies are still curled up as they were inside you; when they still fit in the palm of your hand; when their limbs and eyelashes have yet to unfurl; when they stare out into the world taking all the newness in.

Newborn sessions take place on weekdays either in the comfort of your home or in my professional photography studio.  In home sessions, which are for 5 to 30 day old babies and last for 1.5 hours, focus on the relationship between family members and the new arrival with their home as the backdrop. Studio sessions, which are for 5 to 14 day old babies and last for 2 hours, focus on artistically posed images of the family and then of the baby, taking advantage of different backdrops, props, blankets, and accessories. Newborn sessions are pre-booked based on your due date, which acts as a placeholder  for your session guaranteeing you a spot in my schedule irrespective of whether your baby arrives early or late.

The session fee includes 25 edited, retouched, and artistically enhanced digital files of your choice in colour and black & white.
